What To Do
in Menorca
Menorca has a unique charm which attracts visitors to return year after year, and in many cases to settle here permanently.
Known as ‘the Blue and White Island’ it is the ideal location for holidaymakers of all ages and interests, as we hope you will soon discover for yourselves.
Beatches
Over 120 beaches are awaiting your discovery, with Arenal d'en Castell being the finest on the north coast.
SON BOU
Long white sandy beach. Very popular. Son Bou itself has lots of amenities, a short walk (5 mins) from the beach. A big car park but gets busy in peak summer months. Two beach bars on the beach itself. No natural shade but you can hire umbrellas/sun loungers.
SANTO TOMAS
Stunning beach, long and soft white sand. Amenities throughout Santo Tomas, next to the beach. No natural shade, but you can hire umbrellas/sun loungers. A couple of car parks in the area, the main one being off the roundabout as you enter Santo Tomas itself.
CALAN PORTER
A beautiful beach/cove. Shallow waters, great for kids. Amenities (a shop/beach bars) just to the side of the beach. Excellent for families. Natural shade from mid-afternoon but you can hire umbrellas/sun loungers.
CALA GALDANA
Beautiful beach/cove with white soft sand. Plenty of amenities a short walk from beach. Great for families, shallow waters. Some natural shade from trees, also possible to hire sun loungers/umbrellas. A 45-minute walk to Cala Macarella from here too. Not possible with buggies. Car park available.
CALA MACARELLA
Picture postcard beach. A nice time to visit would be early(ish) morning or late afternoon. HINT: The only way to get to Cala Macarella in high season is taking a bus from Ciutadela or to leave your car in the parking lot in Cala Galdana and walk 2 km following the Camí de Cavalls trail. There are some steep climbs on the trail, and the shade is quite limited.
CALA TURQUETA
A stunning white-sand beach, with natural shade provided by the pine trees and rocks, and water so turquoise that it could pass for the Caribbean. This small cove is also great for snorkelling, plus there are low cliffs for those who enjoy throwing themselves into the crystal-clear water from above, not easily accessible.

MOUNT TORO
The highest mountain in Menorca, with a height of 357 metres. A 5-minute drive from the town ES MERCADAL, beautiful panoramic views over the island, with monastery and a cafe shop. Great photograph opportunity.
MAHON TOWN
A beautiful town to wonder around. Morning or late afternoon are best in the summer. You can guarantee all of the shops will be open at these times and you won't get caught in the uncomfortable mid-day sun!
LITHICA
After having been used to quarry sandstone, the Quarries of S’Hostal, a landscape of monumental proportions with a three-dimensional, sculptural beauty, have been redeveloped by Líthica and are today a very popular cultural centre.
CUITADELLA TOWN
A great place to explore. Similar but different to Mahon; it’s known more for its art and was once the former capital of the island. It also has a lovely Port, that you can walk along and find some lovely restaurants.
SANT LLUIS
A very pretty town to explore. Very Spanish and pretty streets at the back. Very close to many other South Coast destinations, e.g. Binibeca, Alcaufar and Punta Prima.
ES CASTELL
Another typical Spanish town with a lot of history and many paths to explore. You can access Calas Fonts from here too (beautiful waterside front, with lots of cafes and restaurants).
KAYAK HIRE/TOUR
From ES GRAU, you can hire kayaks, and enjoy a guided tour. Normally a couple of hours, it takes you around the calm waters of the Isla de Colom. Highly recommended.
SNORKELING TOUR
A unique opportunity to explore the marine reserve of Menorca, thanks to its crystal clear waters. There are snorkelling tours from/to multiple locations. SANTO TOMAS being one of them.
BINIFADET WINE TOUR
A beautiful winery, close to the town of SAN LUIS. An opportunity to take part in a complimentary tour, finishing with some wine tasting and try/buy local cheeses/chutneys made in the area.
CAMÍ DE CAVALLS
HORSE RIDING TRACK
It’s a route not to be missed if you wish to capture the real beauty of the island.
ARCHEOLOGY
The historical patrimony of Minorca is inexhaustible with over a thousand prehistoric monuments, artificial caves, remains of the roman era and signs of the Muslim period as well as structures of Paleo-Christian churches.

MENORCA’S FIESTAS
The summer fiestas run from June to September and are not some contrived tourist event, so are genuine, different and much loved by the islanders and the many visitors to Menorca.
The Minorcans love their festivals and especially the chance to show off their stunning native horses. The most eagerly awaited moments are the “Cargols“, when riders circle specific points along the route and especially the “Jaleos”, where riders bring their horse onto their rear legs.
