HOW TO GET FROM MAHON AIRPORT

Menorca Airport

The airport is located only 4.5 kilometres from the capital city, Mahon. The distance from the airport to the apartment is about 24 km.

Local Bus

Menorca Airport is connected with Mahon by local bus line 10 and it runs to the main bus station. Journey time is 15 minutes and buses depart approximately every half hour. Ticket is bought on board from the driver, and it costs about €2.65.

From the main bus station, you should take the regular bus line IB08, Autos Fornells. Route: Maó-Arenal d’en Castell – Time: 25 min – Distance: 23.8 km – Rate: about €2.70. https://www.autosfornells.com/en/regular-line-ib08/regular-routes/mao-arenal-den-castell/

These buses are not very frequent; they usually depart at the following times: from Mahon: 09:30 – 12:30 -16:45 – 18:30 / from Arenal d’en Castell: 08:55 – 09:55 -15:45. For up-to-date information about the timetable please check https://www.autosfornells.com/en/regular-line-ib08/schedule/. In Arenal d’en Castell there are four stops:
          1) Coves Noves (Hotel Marina Parc)
          2) Avda de s’Arenal (Hotel Castell Playa).
              You need to get off at this second stop that is just meters away from the Arenal d’en Castell viewpoint where the stairs that will take you directly to the apartment go down.
          3) Vía de Ronda (Hotel Isla Paraiso-Sa Mirada)
          4) Avda d’Es Passarells (Hotel Aguamarina)

Taxi Service

It is advisable to always take a taxi from the signed taxi rank in front of airport terminal and avoid taxi drivers offering services from other points.

An average taxi fare on weekdays is around €1.05 per kilometre and starting price is €3.20, for lowest fares Mo-Fr 06:00 – 21:00 (Tarifa 3) or highest Fares (Tarifa 4) €4.20 after 21:00 (Saturdays after 14:00 and on public holidays).

Extra charges €2.90 for trips originating or ending at Menorca Airport.

Approximate taxi fares to/from Airport to Arenal d’en Castell range from €32 to €38 depending on lowest or highest fares. Mahon Airport taxi stand location: Arrivals ground level. Exit, turn right walk to end of Terminal.

Taxis can be requested by telephone – this is known as ‘Radio Taxi’ and there is normally a supplement of € 1.26 for this – a single tel. number (+34 971 367 111) which connects you to English speaking service. You should state where to be picked up from. Be careful not to keep your taxis waiting! You can get charged a waiting fee of €19.00 per hour.

Transfer

You can order a private transfer if you are arriving in a group and you will get a fixed price for your destination.

A one-way price shared shuttle bus (stops are Hotels or assigned meeting points, not private addresses) is about €11.50 per person, a direct shuttle from € 20 per person (door-to-door transfer, direct to Hotel or private accommodation, at least 4 passengers), you can book in advance for example at https://booking.suntransfers.com.

Renting a car at Menorca Airport

The best way to get around Menorca to explore the island is to rent a car. There are several car rental agencies available at the airport at ground floor.

In case you don’t want to rent a car at the airport (usually costs more), you can always book a car online and have it wait for you outside the terminal, you can search either in the addresses recommended in the first page or for example on https://www.happycar.com.

Cleaning

Your apartment has been cleaned and beds made prior to your arrival. Should you wish, there is a washing machine available for your convenience.

General Maintenance

If you experience any problems during your stay which you cannot resolve, please call us and we will do our best to help you. Please refer to the notes in this booklet in the first instance, which may help you initially.

Electricity

Should the power supply go off, please check the differential switch in the electricity fuse box are in the up position. If not, please reset them. The fuse box is located next to the front door. An appliance being used, e.g. a hairdryer or kettle could have caused one to trip. It is common that a local storm may also cause a trip as well. If your power supply is not restored, please inform us straight away. 

  • To operate the water heater, the switch in the bathroom on the wall facing the kitchen must be turned on.

Ceiling Fans

The ceiling fans in the bedrooms are controlled by cords that allow you to change the speed and turn the light on or off. It should be noted that the switches to turn on this spotlight at the entrance of the rooms or next to the beds will turn the electricity on or off completely.

The ceiling fan in the lounge is controlled by remote control, the switch to turn on this spotlight is located next to the front door.

Air Conditioning

The cover of the external air conditioning unit located on the terrace needs to be removed before operating the air conditioning.

Drainage 

It is VITAL that NO BABY WIPES, disposable sanitary towels, tampons, nappies, or condoms are put down the toilet at this apartment. They will block the pipes. 

Laundry

As above, clean linen will be provided on arrival. Please do not take bath towels to the beach. There is a washing machine in the bathroom for your convenience and a drying rack also. Please be conscious about leaving the drying rack outside on the terrace and go out / to bed. The winds can pick up quickly sometimes.

Amenities

All the amenities (such as bars, restaurants, children’s play areas, cafes, etc) of this popular resort are an easy 10-minute walk, including pedestrian access to the resort’s beach.

Sand

To avoid entering with feet full of sand from the beach, it is advisable to place a basin of water outside the front door to clean your feet.

Rubbish

All rubbish should be put in appropriate plastic bags and taken to the nearest large containers in your street, or close by. These are emptied nightly, so please take advantage of this for hygiene sake in our hot climate. In most areas, there are recycle bins for the various products. Please use these as directed. Please ensure that all your rubbish is disposed of prior to vacating the property. Any rubbish left in the property will quickly attract ants. It is important not to leave food unattended as this will also attract ants. No one likes ants…..!

Breakages

Should you have any breakages in your property and are unable to replace the item, please inform us.

Household Effects

Please DO NOT remove any terrace furniture, cushions etc. from the property for use on the beach. We would ask you to please NOT to sit on cushioned chairs, bedcovers or upholstered terrace furniture in wet swimming costumes or with sun-tan cream/oil on, as this will spoil the soft furnishings. 

Ants and mosquitos 

Please ensure that all food is kept in the fridge and that the surface is kept free of sticky substances/crumbs as much as possible in order to discourage ants from your property. Similarly, please avoid leaving dirty dishes, etc. for any length of time. Sprays can be obtained from the local supermarkets, marked: HORMIGAS – (ant in Spanish).

If you choose to use mosquito plug-ins, please ensure they are removed during the day, as they can overheat.

Safety Box with electronic lock 

A furniture Safe with electronic lock is available in the closet of the master bedroom, to operate it please follow the instruction manual attached to this information pack.

RULES OF THE HOUSE

  • Check-in: After 3:00 PM /  Check-out: Before 11:00 AM
  • Non-Smoking inside. Smoke detectors are installed in all rooms.
  • No pets are allowed.
  • No parties or events are allowed.
  • Please treat all household items with care.
  • When check out please leave the key into the key box located in the entrance next to the main door (The code will be sent days before check-in)
  • Please have consideration for your neighbours by keeping the noise level down, especially at night.

Vacanting your property

Clients are asked to vacate the property by 11:00 AM (unless otherwise agreed) on the morning of departure, to give the cleaners time to prepare for incoming clients.

  • On departure leave all used beds stripped and unmade. 
  • The last day’s towels are to be left in the bathrooms. 
  • All dinnerware, pots, pans, glasses should be cleaned and the dishwasher empty. 
  • Please discard used food from the cabinets and refrigerator. 
  • Trash should be removed from the condo and placed in the proper receptacle outside.

Please lock of all doors when leaving the condo unit and leave the key into the key box located in the entrance next to the main door.
